April 11, 2007: The Montreal Gazette reports that broccoli prices are up in between harvests and following the long Easter weekend for Mexican growers. 

 

March 21, 2007: The Washington Post reports that D.C. area sushi restaurant Uni is serving a Veggie Ice Cream made with pureed raw carrots, cucumbers and . . . broccoli.  The reviewer commented that the ice cream was much better than it sounds, "light" and "refreshing" even. 

 

January 18, 2007: The San Francisco Chronicle reports that a cold snap lasting multiple days has severely damaged crops in the region, including broccoli.  Growers expect prices to rise for broccoli this season, while the quality of the product will likely decline. 

 

December 28, 2006: The Chicago Sun Times reports that thieves stole a refrigerated tractor-trailer truck containing $50,000 worth of broccoli.  Villa Park, IL police chief  Ed Zorich speculated that the thief was probably after the truck, but admitted that broccoli could have been the target, commenting, "stranger things have happened. I never say never."
